Terms of use

The ground rules for using MyIPKit.

These terms are written plainly rather than by a lawyer. They must be reviewed against the law of the relevant jurisdictions before MyIPKit carries advertising, offers a paid API or otherwise operates commercially.

Using the service

MyIPKit is free to use and requires no account. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • Send automated traffic at a volume that degrades the service for others. The tools are rate limited; do not attempt to work around that.
  • Use MyIPKit as a component of an attack, for reconnaissance against systems you are not authorised to test, or to harass anyone.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or the infrastructure behind it.
  • Resell access, or present MyIPKit results as your own product, without permission.

The /api/v1/ endpoints exist to serve this website. There is no published public API and no service level attached to them in this release. They may change or disappear without notice. A documented public API with its own terms is planned; see the project roadmap.

Commands published on this site

The local checks page lists commands you may choose to run on your own machine. They are provided for reference. You are responsible for what you run and for ensuring you are authorised to examine the networks and systems you point them at. Scanning a network you do not own or administer may be unlawful where you live.

Accuracy and no warranty

MyIPKit reports what it observes and what public registries and resolvers return. That data is produced by third parties and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. IP-based location in particular is approximate and regularly inaccurate.

The service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for a decision with legal, financial or security consequences. Verify anything important against an authoritative source.

Availability

MyIPKit is offered without any uptime commitment. It may be unavailable, slow or partially broken at any time, and features may be changed or withdrawn.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyIPKit is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — including loss of data, profit or business — whether or not we were advised such loss was possible. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Third-party services

Lookups are answered using public DNS resolvers and the official RDAP registries. Those services have their own terms and availability, and MyIPKit does not control them.

Privacy

How MyIPKit handles data is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Intellectual property

The MyIPKit name, design and original written content belong to their author. Registration and DNS data displayed by the tools belongs to the respective registries and remains subject to their terms.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of the page shows the most recent revision, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
