Privacy policy

What MyIPKit sees, what it keeps, and what it does not.

This policy is written to be accurate and readable, not to serve as legal advice. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Before MyIPKit enables advertising, analytics or any other third-party script, it must be reviewed against the law of each jurisdiction it operates in — including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and PIPEDA — and a consent mechanism added where one is required.
Success:
There is currently no analytics script and no advertising script on this site. No third party receives data about your visit.

The short version

  • Our servers see your IP address, because delivering a web page requires it.
  • We do not store it, and we do not build a profile from it.
  • Diagnostic reports are created in your browser and never sent to us.
  • There are no accounts, no tracking cookies and, today, no advertising or analytics scripts.

Your IP address

Every request to any website reveals the requester’s IP address to the server; without it, the reply has nowhere to go. MyIPKit uses your address for exactly two things: to display it back to you, and to apply basic rate limiting so one client cannot overwhelm the service.

The rate limiter does not store your address. It stores a truncated cryptographic hash, combined with a random value that is regenerated every time the service restarts, held in memory only and discarded within about a minute. The original address cannot be recovered from it, and the same address produces different hashes across deployments.

We do not write your IP address to a database, an analytics system or a long-lived log.

Location

The location MyIPKit shows is derived from your IP address using registration and routing data. It is approximate. It is usually right about the country, often right about the city, and sometimes wrong by hundreds of kilometres — particularly on mobile, satellite, business and VPN connections. It does not identify a street address or a device, and MyIPKit does not use your device’s GPS or ask for location permission.

Browser and device information

Pages on this site read values your browser exposes through standard APIs: the User-Agent string, language, time zone, screen and window size, whether cookies are enabled, and the Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals if your browser sends them.

These values are read in your browser and used to fill in what you see on screen. They are not sent to our servers, not combined into a fingerprint and not stored.

Diagnostic reports

The Network Report is assembled entirely in your browser from data already on the page.

  • It is never uploaded to MyIPKit.
  • It is not written to any database.
  • There is no shareable link, because there is no stored copy to link to.
  • Copying and downloading happen on your device.
  • Closing or reloading the page discards it. There is nothing to delete afterwards.

If you choose to send a report to someone, you are sending it yourself, through whatever channel you choose. The masking option replaces the last portion of your IP address and removes the full User-Agent string before you copy or download.

What you type into the tools

The subnet calculator and CIDR calculator run entirely in your browser. What you type into them never leaves your device. The local checks page is a static reference and makes no requests at all.

The lookup tools necessarily send your query onwards to answer it: domain names go to a public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver, and registration queries go to the official registry through the IANA bootstrap service. MyIPKit does not keep a record of what you looked up, and does not associate queries with the person who made them.

Cookies and local storage

MyIPKit sets no cookies. If you choose an explicit light or dark theme, a language, or an operating system on the local checks page, those preferences are saved in your browser’s local storage so the site does not have to guess again. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and you can clear them through your browser at any time.

Analytics and advertising

MyIPKit may add privacy-preserving, aggregate analytics later — page views and how often each tool is used, with no cross-site tracking and no persistent identifier. Advertising may also be added, restricted to positions below the primary result. Either change will be reflected here before it goes live, along with the provider’s name and the consent mechanism.

Logging

MyIPKit keeps operational error logs to diagnose failures. They record the type of error and a request identifier. They deliberately do not record your IP address, the address or domain you looked up, or the contents of any response from a provider.

The hosting platform maintains its own infrastructure logs, which are outside our control and subject to that provider’s retention policy.

Children

MyIPKit is a technical utility with no accounts and no user-submitted content. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data an organisation holds about you. Because MyIPKit does not store your IP address, your reports or your queries, there is generally nothing held about you to produce, correct or erase. If you believe otherwise, write to us and we will look into it.

Changes to this policy

Material changes — particularly enabling advertising or analytics — will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of the page before the change takes effect.
